Shopping, afternoon tea & cocktails

Bonjour!

I feel like I have neglected my blog for such a long time now due to exams and other things and I think it's time I should give it some love and attention! Apart from passing my exams (yay!!) and also FINALLY passing my driving test (yay again!) I haven't really done anything too exciting to blog about until this week. My birthday is next Tuesday (the 18th) and I shall be turning a very boring age of 19, so I decided to do something a little spontaneous and plan a day out in London! I do not live in London so this was pretty exciting for me ha! On Wednesday, myself and my two lovely friends joined me as we took a coach to central London..

We shopped, A LOT. If you have been to London or you live there you will know that it is filled with the most amazing shops so I had plenty to choose from. Not only did I spend a hefty amount in places like Topshop, Selfridges and M.A.C, me and my friends decided to treat ourselves and have afternoon tea at Harvey Nichols, which is located in Knightsbridge (very posh and lovely area).

The afternoon tea was probably the most amazing thing I have ever had! It was 'Roaring twenties' themed and inspired by the new release of The Great Gatsby, so the food was not your average cucumber sandwich and scone tea. It featured macaroons, delectable cakes, lobster rolls and 'gin rickeys'. For the price of £40, this also included a prohibition cocktail, which was also very lovely. The service could not be faulted, everyone was so lovely and accommodating which made the day even more special. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to treat themselves to a day of luxury! Bookings for the afternoon tea can be made online at the Harvey Nichols website and it is incredibly easy to find via the tube system or by bus. We also ventured to the lovely 'Choccywoccydoodah' shop located in Carnaby Street and treated ourselves to something from the upstairs cafe.

Have you ever been to London? If so, where do you go to treat yourself?

Roman Holiday..

Hello hello hello!

Firstly, I would like to apologise for such a late blog post. I've neglected my blog for so long now due to so much revision and I can happily say that my last exam is Friday so I shall be free of that awful burden!

My second point I would like to share with you all, is that I am off to Rome in August!!
I am so incredibly excited, it is crazy! I cannot wait to just relax for a few days, see some amazing sights, eat beautiful Italian food and enjoy the lovely weather. I'm also excited as it will provide me with sooo much blogging material, which makes me happy! Have any of you ever been to Rome? If so, any tips would be incredibly helpful!

Much love!

Nail revival!

Hello everyone!

Apologies for no posts lately, I've been so snowed under with revision, my first exam is tomorrow so I'm very stressed!

I am awful with maintaining my nails, just awful, they are so short and unattractive and blauuuuurgh. I always see people posting pictures with great nails and I'm forever buying nail polish but never using them. However, the other day whilst out shopping, I decided to purchase a new Rimmel Kate Moss nail polish in shade 317 'Hip Hop'.

It is AMAZING! I'm really really enjoying using this, it's a great colour, very vibrant so perfect for summer. When applied, it dries fairly quickly and sets like a gel so very shiny! Also, because it's newly released, it was on offer for £2.99 which is a bargain in my opinion! I purchased this in Boots but I have seen this literally everywhere else.

I'd like to hear about your thoughts on this, have you used it? Did you enjoy it? Or do you have any particular nail polishes that you would recommend? I'd love to hear back from you!

My instant pick me up!

"A kiss on the hand may be quite continental, but diamonds are a girls best friend.."

I love love love old classic hollywood films! I adore every single element of them; the clothes, the make up and hair, the actresses and actors, the era and the way life seemed so much better then. I find they are the perfect way to brighten up a rainy day or a boring Sunday afternoon!

Seeing so many beautiful women who are elegant and classy is truly inspiring, but also quite upsetting when I think about the way some women present themselves in society now. Whatever happened to women dressing with class? I always find myself pondering how we have gone from full length dresses with hats and petticoats to too much fake tan and clothes that barely cover anything! (I see girls under 16 going out in public like this). And it's not just the way women were, it's as if men were a different species back then! (I know that it is only reflected in film and that it doesn't mean men were different in real life back then but the principle still applies) Whatever happened to men acting like real gentlemen and dressing nicely? I say we should all start making more of an effort with the way we behave and look in society! (this doesn't apply to all of us, I've also admired many people who take pride in the way they look and act, which is incredibly inspiring)

BUT anyway!..pointless rant aside..

If you ever feel down, take my advice and put on an old black & white, get on the sofa with a duvet and immerse yourself in greatness <3
Some of my favourite films from this period include Breakfast At Tiffanys, Some Like It Hot, Singin' In The Rain and Gone With The Wind.

What are your thoughts? Do you enjoy old classic movies too?

Your best asset is you!

"You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection" - Buddha

We've all gone through those days where you instantly wake up and feel like staying in bed all day, wallowing about how you look or how you wish you looked. I am a major victim of this. It's completely normal and the truth is, we are our worst critics.

Theres always something that gets to you, be it "I wish I was thinner", "I wish I had a different face" or "I'm hopeless, I wish I was good at something". And, a lot of the time, the solution to your problems is by getting up and doing something about it. If you are unhappy with your life, try to turn it around! if somebody says to you, "You are ugly" or "You'll never be good enough", to hell with them! You should never let anyone stop you from enjoying your life, because most of the time, the people that criticise you the most have problems of their own. I know it's easy for me to write this and act as if problems go away with a click of a mouse which I know they do not.

We are all different and the sooner everybody realises that, the better. But until that miraculous day happens where people have no prejudices and people of any colour, size, gender or class can be accepted, you must understand that you are amazing! (I write this with the intention to not sound completely cheesy or cliche which I hope has worked).

Your best asset is you.

Look at yourself in the mirror, focus on the things you like about yourself (and saying "I like nothing about myself" is not the answer) There is something, you just need to discover it! Listen to your favourite music, watch the films that make YOU happy, speak to the people you love the most and value the things in life that make you want to live it!

And quite obviously, this will not solve all of your problems, but I hope that by reading this, your self esteem may be bright even if it's for a short time.

So smile, because you are all beautiful!

Disney delights!

To say I like Disney would be an understatement. I LOVE Disney. I'm not even ashamed to say it! My two lovely friends recently visited Disneyland Paris for the day and decided to be very cheeky and buy me some presents....

Inside the bag I found a really amazing silicone cake mold in the shape of Minnie Mouse. I'm pretty into my baking so I'm very excited to use this, I'm thinking this would be perfect for a sandwich cake! (Also, the fact it's Disney just makes it 10x better in my opinion!)

(Sorry for the bad quality of the pictures, my light-bulb decided to go just before I took them!) The mold itself is not large but it's a good medium size and I think it's a great idea for individual cakes! The fact it is silicone will also be interesting to use, my past experience with silicone cake molds have been good so hoping it turns out well!

To go with the theme of baking, the second present was a really lovely oven mitt! It's really well padded inside so it's very unlikely that an accident can occur with these on! I am ALWAYS burning my hands when taking things out of the oven, a complete clutz, so this is both practical and lovely to look at!

Really happy with my presents and cannot wait to use them both! I'll put up an image of how the cake turned out using the mold soon!
